Things to Do in Fairfield County This June

Things to Do in Fairfield County This June

From Beach Sunsets and Pick-Your-Own Farms to Art Galleries, Water Sports, and Hidden Speakeasies

June is genuinely one of our favorite months in Fairfield County. The weather is right, the energy picks up, and there's enough going on that you could do something different every weekend and still not get through the list. Here's what we're looking forward to.

For Families

Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport has summer newborns out right now, and the Connecticut wildlife exhibits are always worth a visit.

Stamford Museum & Nature Center has farm animals, nature trails, and enough space for kids to actually run around.

Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk is running hands-on summer science exhibits. The kind of place where kids don't realize they're learning.

Discovery Science Center & Planetarium in Bridgeport covers STEM from every angle, including evening stargazing events.

Mini golf is always a good call. Try Norwalk Cove Marina Mini Golf or the more competitive greens at Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton.

Connecticut Open House Day on June 13 means free or discounted admission at museums and landmarks across the county. Worth planning around.

Food, Drink, and Shopping

Waterfront dining: The Whelk in Westport or fresh oysters at the patio of Rowayton Seafood in Norwalk.

Eat by the water: La Plage in Westport for a relaxed coastal lunch.

Summer cocktails: Washington Prime in Norwalk or bartaco in Stamford.

Local wine: Aquila's Nest Vineyards in Newtown or Jones Family Farms & Winery in Shelton. Both are worth an afternoon.

Beer gardens: Half Full Third Place in Stamford or Two Roads Brewing in Stratford.

Markets and shopping: Early summer artisan pop-ups at Grace Farms in New Canaan or the always-interesting SoNo Collection in Norwalk.

Speakeasies: 29 Markle Court in Bridgeport or Basso in Westport if you're looking for something a little more hidden.

Arts and Culture

The Glass House Summer Party on June 6 in New Canaan is one of the cooler events of the season. Philip Johnson's iconic modernist estate, open for the summer.

Westport Country Playhouse is getting their summer season underway. The productions here are legitimately world-class.

Stamford Off-Main Experience on June 11 at Mill River Park has free live music, food vendors, and the walk-up SEED art gallery. Great free afternoon.

Levitt Pavilion in Westport kicks off their outdoor concert series late June. Pack a blanket, it's free.

Sheffield Island Lighthouse via ferry from Norwalk and the Maritime Aquarium are both worth putting on the list if you haven't been.

Active Stuff

Hiking: Devil's Den in Weston for shaded summer trails or Keeler Tavern in Ridgefield for the beautiful walled gardens.

Ziplining and climbing: The Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport does nighttime treetop experiences. A genuinely fun evening.

Golf: Longshore Golf Course in Westport has water views. Fairchild Wheeler in Fairfield is a beautiful layout.

Water sports: Rent a kayak or paddleboard at Sea Kayak Connecticut in Westport or paddle around Norwalk Harbor. This one surprises people who haven't tried it.

Romantic Ideas That Actually Work

Watch the sun set over Long Island Sound from a quiet beach. Pack a blanket and head to Westport Astronomical Society for a clear night under the stars. These are simple and they're good.
